Song-start timestamps for your DJ mix

Turn the file your DJ software already made into a timestamped tracklist. Read song starts from rekordbox, Traktor or Serato history, or named markers in an Ableton Live or FL Studio project.

Check the times, add missing track names, and copy a chapter list for YouTube or a tracklist for SoundCloud and Mixcloud. Your project and audio files stay in your browser.

Drop your project or session file here

Ableton .als, FL Studio .flp, rekordbox .cue, Traktor .nml or Serato .session.

Your file is read in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

No file to hand?

Run a real mix through it and see exactly what comes out. A twelve-track recording running an hour and a quarter.

On your phone?

Your project file is probably on another computer. Send yourself the link and pick this up there.

What you get back

A list ready to paste into a YouTube, SoundCloud or Mixcloud description.

0:00 Kestrel Lane - First Light
6:12 Ardent Fields - Paper Harbour
13:15 Nomi Vale - Slow Transit
19:48 The Quiet Wire - Understory

Two ways in

You played the set out

rekordbox, Traktor and Serato all write down what they played and when. Hand over the recording's .cue, the History playlist or the session file and the tracklist is already complete — no markers, no DAW.

You built the mix in a DAW

In Ableton Live or FL Studio, drop a named marker at each transition and upload the project file. It works whether you assembled the mix there or imported a bounce of it.

Instant

The file is read in your browser the moment you drop it. There is no queue, no upload, and no waiting.

Private

Your project and optional mix audio are read in this browser tab. No file upload and no account are required.

Ready to paste

Copy a tracklist for YouTube, SoundCloud or Mixcloud, or export CSV and JSON for another workflow.

How do I use this?

Ableton Live

.als
  1. 1Open the project holding your mix in the Arrangement view.
  2. 2Put the playhead at each transition and press the Set button in the Locators panel, or use the marker row above the timeline.
  3. 3Give each locator the name you want in the tracklist — artist and title work well.
  4. 4Save the set, then drop the .als file here.

Worth knowing: Live stores locator positions in beats rather than seconds, so the tempo matters. If you changed the tempo partway through, this page works the times out by following the automation.

What this cannot do

Start with a supported project, session or export file that contains the timings. For a music compilation, place named markers at each song start in Ableton Live or FL Studio, then open the project here. An audio recording or YouTube link alone is not enough: SongTimestamps does not recognize unknown songs or detect their starts by listening.

Questions

What does a song timestamp mark?
It marks when a track starts in a longer DJ mix or music compilation, alongside the artist and title. It is different from a lyric timestamp, which follows a line or word inside one song.
How do I get timestamps from my DJ set?
Open the recording's rekordbox .cue, a Traktor History .nml, or a Serato session or History CSV. For Ableton Live and FL Studio, add named markers at the song starts and open the .als or .flp project. The converter reads those times into an editable tracklist.
Can I make YouTube chapters for a music compilation?
Yes, from a supported project or session file containing the song starts. Choose the YouTube format and paste the list into your video description. Start at 0:00, include at least three chapters, and make each at least ten seconds long. YouTube controls whether chapters are available on your video.
Can you find the songs in an audio file or YouTube link?
No. This tool reads existing timing information from supported files; it does not identify songs or detect transitions from audio. If you have only a recording, place and name its song-start markers in Ableton Live or FL Studio first.
Can I check or correct the tracklist before I publish?
Yes. Edit the track names, paste names into the marker list, and adjust formatting or the overall offset. Add your mix audio to compare the timestamps with its duration and play an entry to hear the transition. Review the result before publishing.
What happens when the mix changes tempo?
Ableton locator times follow the tempo automation in the set. FL Studio tempo automation cannot be read from the project file here, so those times use the base tempo and are flagged. Check a mix that changes tempo against the audio.
Where can I use the finished tracklist?
Copy time-and-title lines for YouTube, SoundCloud or Mixcloud, or export CSV and JSON for another workflow. Precision can include tenths or milliseconds; displayed times are truncated rather than rounded. For word-by-word lyric timing and karaoke, use LyricTimestamps.
Are my files uploaded, and do I need an account?
No account is required. Project files and optional mix audio are processed in your browser, not uploaded. The site uses analytics as described on the privacy page; these do not receive your project file, track names or audio.

Need timestamps for the words inside a song?

LyricTimestamps automatically aligns lyrics word by word, with an editor for manual timing refinement. Use it for synced lyrics, karaoke and timed lyric exports; use SongTimestamps for the start of each track in a mix.
